THE STORY

Orlando begins as a contemplative boy, an ambitious poet, a bon vivant at the court of Elizabeth I, a royal envoy in Constantinople. And then: a traveller, a recluse, a beloved host and lady of society, an independent woman in love with life, a sorrowful soul bowed by the spirit of the Victorian age, a lover, a poet.

Across four centuries, and especially now as Orlando steps before her audience, she is a seeker. What makes a person who they are? Name and origin? Appearance and gender? Society? The spirit of the age? The soul? The true self?

In 1928, Virginia Woolf wrote Orlando – A biography , a multifaceted novel shaped by sharp observation and subtle humor – today regarded as one of the most important feminist works in world literature. Nearly a century later, analyse schmitt kollektiv turns its attention to this figure. Orlando faces the uncertainties of the 21st century and is still searching – for the self, for truth, for a place in the world. She takes the audience on a whirlwind tour through her history, inviting us to celebrate the rich complexity of what it means to be human.
